Local Business and Communication

I read just a short time ago that the Lakeville Country Club has changed ownership. I thought it was odd that if I’d not picked up the Middleboro Gazette, I never would have known this. This has led to an interesting conversation (with myself) about how local businesses could potentially team up together to share news, needs, ideas, etc.

While the web is big and often useful, it has tended to be used more to aspire to reach the world—that is, much larger audiences than what, say, we could do on our own without an internet connection. But I wonder if lost in the shuffle is the opportunity to create localized business groups of some kind that use the web to communicate with each other in more efficient, effective ways—with a much more localized flare than what we see today.

Maybe we’ll get right on that…
